In the months following the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, a harrowing report published by the World Health Organization revealed that moderate to severe cases of anxiety and depression have increased by over 25% globally. Juggling separation anxiety or the loss of a loved one in addition to the persisting demands of everyday life has led millions into depression or addictive coping mechanisms in response to unprecedented global events including the pandemic.
While people of all ages have been affected by what many experts deem a worldwide “mental health crisis,” adolescents in particular have seen a sharp uptick in diagnosed mental illnesses both worldwide and more specifically, in the United States.
Talk About It DMV is committed to providing a space with easily accessible information, advice, and resources surrounding prominent mental illnesses that teenagers struggle with nationwide.
Created in 2022 by a teenager in the Washington Metropolitan Area, our aim is to provide relatable, vulnerable, and authentic advice to teenagers across the nation dealing with various mental health issues. Most importantly, this site is meant to encourage teens to start an open dialogue about mental struggles and decrease the stigma surrounding mental health.
